Sustainability is a myth

"Everything man does creates more harm than good. We have to accept that fact and not delude ourselves into thinking something is sustainable. Then you can try to achieve a situation where you're causing the least amount of harm possible. That's the spin we put on it. It's a never-ending summit." / Yvon Chouinard 2019

Cult brand Patagonia profiles itself as a manufacturer of outdoor clothing and equipment for "silent sports" - climbing, surfing, running, etc. Besides the quality of its products, it is also known for its efforts to minimize its negative impact on the environment. The opening quote from its founder accurately describes the current trend. Hiding behind terms such as organic, eco-friendly, sustainable, etc., which are increasingly turning into empty words.

In our industry, printers are racing to get certified and if you don't have FSC, you don't exist. Clients demand it! Some paper mills even offer materials with zero carbon footprint. But in reality, of course, it's just a matter of paying a "forgiveness". Of course, paper cannot be produced without emissions. But the manufacturer has invested compulsorily in unspecified "greening".

Yvon Chouinard speaks to us from the soul. We are convinced that we must strive to do as little damage to the planet as possible, both as people and as a manufacturing company. But not in an artificial or disposable way. It must be a gradual, systematic and natural daily effort in all areas of our production. FSC certificates, which nobody understands anyway, will not protect nature for us. It is essential to think about the environment in a sustainable way - not only during production, but also when selecting materials or elements of the supply chain.

Our production philosophy therefore has three basic pillars:

  1. Choosing materials that are naturally (by nature) friendly to the planet

  2. Preference for local suppliers and partners

  3. Design and production with high added value

Ad 1 / The basis of packaging is paper-based materials, but also adhesives, foams and many others. We choose those that are demonstrably environmentally friendly and whose use means the lowest possible CO2 emissions.

Ad 2 / We prefer local suppliers because the shorter the distance the production process has to travel, the lower the negative impact on the environment. For example, a paper mill Lessebouses pulp from the surrounding forests, water from the river behind the factory and wind power for production. Their paper is then used to produce, for example, a large series of complicated products in the Czech Republic in cooperation with partners in our vicinity. Instead of traditional imports from the Far East, we give our clients the opportunity to choose a much more planet-friendly alternative.

Ad 3 / The general problem with packaging is the short life cycle. That is why we purposefully design and manufacture high value-added products that have the potential to find a second life. A beautiful and well thought out box can further serve as an interior accessory, as a storage box, etc.

Join us and let's get rid of empty words! Want products that don't end up in the trash, don't ship halfway around the world, don't compromise on quality!
